Well, its about that time again that I hit the ski hill!
I am sitting in the airport right now, waiting for a flight to Portland, Oregon. Summer is the time for me where I try and support my skiing by working my a** off and raising the funds I need for the following season. So when a job includes skiing and working, well that is a perfect combination!
I will be working for Adam Julius who has run a successful camp at Mt. Hood Oregon for a long, long time. In fact, this camp was MY first summer camp that I attended when I was 11 or 12. It is incredibly rewarding to be able to be a part of something that had such a huge influence as me as a kid. If any of you are interested in following this camp, please check in at the GMVS Mt. Hood blog. Me, and the other staff members update it daily.
In other exciting news…
I have taken a job writing for Alpine Press. I am very excited for this new challenge and what it will teach me. I am passionate about writing, and while taking on reporting is something new to me I know that it will only serve to further my skill and I am extremely excited to see where it takes me.
If you remember, I wrote an opinion piece for Alpine Press last season discussing the lack of athlete funding on the east coast, which can be found here.
My first article since I have officially been added to the writing staff was published last Monday. You can view that here.
Thats it for now! Stay classy!
I spent my summer there last year. Beautiful scenery.
Now I have to spend my summer in rainy Scotland.. No snow
Don’t break any bones! X
